Starting on January 29, 2018, USCIS is changing its procedures for scheduling asylum interviews. The first priority for new appointments will be those that have had an interview scheduled in the past and have had to reschedule their interview for any reason.
The second priority will be those that have filed for asylum in the last twenty-one days. After scheduling these two priority groups for asylum interviews, USCIS will begin to schedule interviews for those applicants that have most recently applied for asylum. Prior to this announcement, USCIS in general had been scheduling affirmative asylum interviews for those that had filed first.
